Jeff and Kathryn spent the night in Ogallalla, NE and then headed toward Imperial, NE on Tuesday morning. Conditions around noon...rain, low clouds...air is super saturated 70/70 (70 temperature/70 Dewpoint) We stop in Imperial at the local Library for data. Across the street from the library is the volunteer fire dept and police station. Water Rescue teams were coordinating for potential rescue efforts near the community of Champion, NE where the banks of the Frenchman River had overflowed its banks.

A dam of a private lake upstream of the Frenchman river had given way the previous night sending a surge of water downstream toward Champion and the oldest running water-mill in Nebraska. In the early morning hours on Tuesday the water surged over the gates at the mill and reached the physical structure of the mill. Crews worked tirelessly throughout the morning hours trying to open the gates at the mill. Around 4 a.m. one of the two gates was opened saving the mill from damage. Thank you to Joe Wise, Civil Defense for allowing me to take photographs and to Beth at the Imperial Library for information on local conditions.

East of McCook Nebraska we saw an INCREDIBLE Gustfront, best thing, stormwise, that we saw all day.
Jeff and Kathryn Piotrowski

Looks as though our Storm Chasing is over unless some major wave comes in again across the plains in June, or the Northern Plains in July. And of course there is always that narrow window of opportunity in the Fall for Severe Weather. Check back soon for more updates.
